The province says it has expanded its early childhood education dual-credit programs for grades 11 and 12 students.
30 new dual-credit programs will be introduced at school districts across the province.
Participating school districts will be offering the programs as partnerships with nearby post-secondary institutions.
It is anticipated that approximately 800 secondary students will enroll in early childhood education dual credit programs by the end of 2025.
Tuition costs for the courses will be covered by the program, which means that students’ entry into post-secondary training comes with fewer expenses.
It is expected that in 2023, School District 54 will be a part of this program.
The program will be funded by a $4.1 million investment provided by the province through Budget 2022 and $1.15 million in funding from the federal government which was provided during 2021-22 through the 2021-25 Canada- British Columbia Early Learning and Child Care Agreement.
It is anticipated additional school districts will offer the ECE dual credit program by 2025.
