Province invests into several projects across the Bulkley Valley and Lakes District

The province is investing $480,000 into the manufacturing sector in Houston from the BC Manufacturing Jobs Fund. (BCMJF)

This is going to DH Manufacturing Inc. to help install a new finger jointer at the facility, helping to increase productivity.

“Completion of this project will bring stability to the company and to our town that has been shaken by the challenging times of the lumber industry,” said company Vice-President Dustin Hotte.

The company is a secondary wood product manufacturer doing finger joint lumber, dunnage, strips and lathe products.

“Programs like REDIP and the BC Manufacturing Jobs Fund are important tools for creating stronger, cleaner local economies in northern B.C.,” said Stikine MLA Nathan Cullen.

Also announced were several projects receiving funding through the province’s Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure Program. (REDIP)

From that program, $1.5 million is going to Houston to redevelop Bymac Park and the district’s Houston Economic Diversification Project.

The Town of Smithers is getting $890 thousand to implement an Environmental Management Approach at its airport.

$250,000 is going to the Ts’il Kaz Koh First Nation for their Burns Lake Band Food Security and Economic Diversification project.
