Fraser Lake, Stellat’en First Nation sign fire services agreement

The Village of Fraser Lake and Stellat’en First Nation have entered into a mutual support agreement as pertains to fire services.

The agreement highlights the shared commitment to safeguarding our neighbors and the broader community as well as the collaborative use of emergency resources, enhancing the overall safety and preparedness of both communities.

Starting on Monday, the Fraser Lake Volunteer Fire Department will invite the Stellat’en Volunteer Fire
Department to join its weekly training sessions.

This initiative aims to elevate the Stellat’en Volunteer Fire Department to meet industry standards for exterior structural firefighting.

“During an unpredictable fire season, the Village of Fraser Lake is enthused to collaborate with Stellat’en First Nation for the protection of our
communities.” said Sarrah Storey of the Village of Fraser Lake Mayor.

The agreement is set for an initial term of one year, with the possibility of an extension.
