While many Northerners are dusting off their skis and anticipating the upcoming snowy season, Burns Lake bikers still have something new to ride before winter.
The Pierce Hofer Memorial Wall Ride is now open at the shore of Kager Lake.
The 180-degree turn is similar to a velodrome, allowing bikers of all expertise to ride it safely.
Burns Lake Mountain Biking Association President Guy Epkens-Shaffer says the addition has been a hit.
“All the riders that have been going up there for the past few weeks have taken a shot at it,” he says, “there’s nobody in the club that’s gone biking over the last two weeks that hasn’t gone and ridden around this.”
Final touches on the wall ride, like a proper runout and a memorial garden, will be built in spring.
