Two new wildfires have started about 20 kilometres either side of Burns Lake.
The Maxan Lake wildfire northwest of the community was 2 hectares as of 9:50 last night. (Thursday)
According to BC Wildfire, a lightning strike started the blaze.
To the southeast is blaze R11918, just under 1 hectare in size.
The BC Wildfire Service and Burns Lake Fire Department are aware of both blazes with crews attacking each.
Both blazes are out of control.
