Rain was mostly absent through August while temperatures remained on the warmer end in the Bulkley Valley and Lakes District.
That’s according to Environment Canada, adding it was the fifth driest August on record.
“We reported 7.2 millimetres of precipitation. Normal is 43.8 millimetres so 16 per cent of normal precipitation,” said Meteorologist Brian Proctor.
Temperatures were up for the month with the average being 16.3 degrees.
The normal average is 14.6 which Proctor said makes it the eighth warmest on record.
“The temperature anomalies aren’t quite as strong, but the dryness was consistent with what we had last year,” he said.
The drier and warmer trend is expected to continue through September.
“The Bulkley Lakes tend to see warm, dry Septembers frequently and it does look like that is what is setting up at this point,” said Proctor.
Sunny skies are expected through the rest of the week with some rain coming over the weekend.
