$200,000 being distributed by Smithers golf tournament

The numbers are out after the 2024 Smithers Celebrity Golf Tournament that was held August 9th through 11th.

$200,000 was raised through the event which is being sent to several organizations in the region.

Half that amount is being donated to the Bulkley Valley Health Foundation to purchase a new ultrasound machine at the Bulkley Valley District Hospital.

A new pickleball court in Telkwa and athletic grants by the Bulkley Valley Sport Foundation are receiving $60,000.

Phase 2 of the Smithers Skatepark Society’s upgrade project is getting $30,000.

$10,000 is going to the Coast Mountain College Foundation for the JVB (Jody Bradley) Trades Award Endowment Fund.

Chairman Kent Delwisch called the event a success and announced that this was his last tournament in the position.

“Although I am stepping away as Chairman of the Celebrity Golf Tournament, I intend to continue with additional fundraising efforts in our amazing community. I very much appreciate our sponsors commitment over the past 15 years that I have been involved with Celebrity Golf and will cherish the friendships that I have made. Watch for other big events in the near future and get ready for Celebrity Golf 2026,” he said in a statement.
