Mounties in Quesnel got their man after a brief foot chase this (Thursday) morning.
Sergeant Clay Kronebusch says the incident began at around 8:45 a.m.
“A member of the Quesnel RCMP Crime Reduction Unit attempted to arrest a 26-year old man for being in possession of a stolen vehicle. The man resisted arrest and after a brief struggle attempted to flee on foot.”
Kronebusch added the suspect didn’t go far.
“The man fled into the basement of a nearby residence. After a brief stand-off with police the man exited the residence where he was taken into custody without further incident.”
Kronebusch mentioned the basement was separate from the main residence, which was located in the 300 block of Elliott Street.
He said no one was hurt, the suspect or the officer, during the brief struggle.
The suspect is now being held in custody pending a court appearance.
