Time is already running out for the Bulkley Valley to help children in need this Christmas.
It may seem early, but shoeboxes through “Operation Christmas Child” are due on November 22nd. This is so the can be shipped off to developing countries in time for December 25th.
To participate, you can drop off a shoebox filled with toys to the Smithers Greyhound.
Manager Katie Bakker says Christmas is a great time to share our wealth.
“We’re very blessed in North America. We have a lot to give,” she says, “I think it’s easy, when we do everyday things, to forget there are kids around the world who aren’t going to get to experience Christmas like we do.”
Each box includes a $7 donation fee. Toy suggestions include school supplies, dolls, soccer balls, toy cars, and jump ropes.
