An online auction fundraiser is being held in Burns Lake to support the Burns Lake Legion.
The Lest We Forget auction idea came after a meeting held on November 26th as the legion was on the edge of closing.
“It was laid out to the membership, and anybody else that attended, the kind of debt we’re in and so people gathered and decided to do this auction,” said Legion Trustee Jeanne Parkinson.
Another issue brought up at the meeting was a lack of volunteers which she said has been resolved.
“We had sheets out for people to volunteer for different positions and they filled up.”
While the auction is being held on Facebook, residents can also place bids in person at the Legion.
So far, over $20,000 in items have been donated for the auction and will be accepted until Saturday.
The auction starts December 19th at noon.
