Bulkley Valley, Lakes District experience a mostly mild January

While January ended on a cold note, the average temperature remained above normal in the Bulkley Valley and Lakes District.

According to Environment Canada, the average temperature was –4.3 degrees.

“The usual would have been colder at –7.2 degrees so we were actually about three degrees above normal,” said Meteorologist Derek Lee.

Near –20 overnight temperatures ended the month and are expected to continue until Thursday.

“And then we would start to trend back to normal, meaning somewhere in the negative single digits for the daytime and negative teens for the nighttime,” said Lee.

January 2024 was normal in terms of temperature while precipitation was at 34.7 millimeters.
