About 50 Smithers residents rallied down Main Street on Saturday in support of Palestine.
This was put on by the Smithers Palestine Solidarity Group who first organized in January.
“In January after witnessing some awful atrocities, feeling really alone in knowing about the conflict and feeling like there was no community here, I reached out to a couple people and we got together deciding to start a group,” said Founder Bronwyn Hobson.
She added it was held after Israel broke a ceasefire imposed on the Gaza strip on Tuesday of last week.
“With the resumption of bombings and assaults, I think it’s time for people to stand up and for the community to know there’s people here who care and are willing to speak up,” said Hobson.
Another focus made by participants was on Israel blocking humanitarian aid from making it to Palestinians.
