Last week’s Vista Radio “Stuff the Truck” event raised $49,500 for local food banks.
Residents throughout Hazelton, Burns Lake, and Smithers generously made non-perishable food and cash donations during the four-day fundraiser.
Smithers Salvation Army Director Rick Apperson says local contributions will stock food bank for at least three months.
“I’m a little overwhelmed just by seeing that much. It’s just powerful. A powerful statement of this community,” he says.
Nationwide, Vista Radio’s “Stuff the Truck” event raised over $1.2-million for community food banks.
