A clean sweep at Zones has landed the Smithers Secondary Junior Girls basketball team a spot in this year’s Provincial tournament.
After two round robin wins, the girls secured a bye to Sunday’s final. They then beat Caledonia 34-9 for the programs second straight Zones championship.
Building off of last year’s Provincials appearance, Head Coach Chris van der Mark says the team wants to win at least one game.
‘If they could win another one that’d be great and you go from there,” he says, “you don’t go down planning to lose but you go down with some realistic expectations for each year be a bit better.”
The Provincial tournament will begin March 3rd in Langley.
