Feds help Hazelton with water and roads management grant

Hazelton got a boost with its Long-Term Infrastructure & Asset Management plan.

In January, The Federal Gas Tax Fund Management committee approved the Village’s application and granted it $58,700.

The money will be used to evaluate local water, sanitary sewer, stormwater and roadway systems. It will also go towards mapping these systems, and creating an infrastructure maintenance and replacement plan.

The Village was one of many communities to receive money through the Gas Tax Fund. Another northern recipient was Granisle, which was given $637,000 to expand its communal biomass furnace.

The photo was taken from the BC government’s Flickr page.
