Environment Canada issued a wind warning around 4:30 AM Monday, from Smithers to Terrace, due to strong winds that could cause damages.
Winds have been measured at 70 km/h and could get as high as 90 km/h later this morning. Winds will simmer down later today when the “intense low” moves northeast.
Keep an eye out for weak spots like windows or roof shingles on your home, at work, or on neighbouring buildings; Environment Canada says these spots are the most vulnerable to winds. Clean up loose objects, like garbage cans, as the wind could toss them as well.
Weather in the mountains can also change suddenly, which can make driving dangerous.
