The Smithers Art Gallery is accepting entries into its 6×6 Auction being held on October 9.
It runs every two years with this year’s theme being “Valley Life”.
“We ask for donations of art on 6×6 canvases, they take them away, put art on them, and then bring them back,” said manager Jenna Savage.
She said the art can be done with any medium with the final submitted piece needing to be six inches by six inches.
Ones submitted in the past include felted pieces and painted tiles, including triptychs which are three pieces that go together.
“People will try very hard in the silent auction to get all those pieces so I’ve definitely seen the pictures and heard the stories of how exciting that night is,” Savage said.
This year is her first time running the event since taking over as manager in 2025.
Savage said funds from the auction will go towards bringing more art education into the community and showing local artists in the gallery.
The deadline to submit a piece is October 3, with works shown in the gallery from October 7 to 9.
