The first signs of winter showed itself across the Bulkley Valley and Lakes District on Tuesday as the community woke up to a layer of snow on the ground.
Environment Canada said it comes as polar air blankets the region, bringing precipitation from the Pacific ocean.
“You have the flurry slowly tapering off [Tuesday night] and then a 30 per cent chance of flurry [Wednesday] morning,” said Meteorologist Gary Lee.
The snow won’t be sticking around for long as above freezing temperatures are expected for the rest of this week despite remaining below seasonal.
Overnight low temperatures are expected to drop as low as -9 degrees on Thursday and remain below freezing through this weekend.
“Next week, the Pacific warm air is going to come in on Monday and Tuesday, and might return to rain,” said Lee.
