Burns Lake RCMP execute two Friday search warrants

The Burns Lake RCMP had a busy Friday, executing two search warrants for separate investigations.

Police say the first was from an investigation that began on June 6th, 2026, after reports of overnight break and enters in the Burns Lake area; however, investigative work and CCTV evidence helped officers identify a suspect.

During the search warrant execution, a 35-year-old Burns Lake resident was taken into custody without incident, with all property reported stolen was recovered, and the suspect was held in custody for a bail hearing.

The suspect is facing charges of break and enter, possession of break in instruments, mischief over $5000, careless use of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized.

The second was part of efforts to combat drug dealing in the community, building on prior enforcement action taken at a local residence in 2025, with the search warrant leading to findings of evidence consistent with drug trafficking.

Mounties say charges are pending further investigation as well as review and assessment by the Public Prosecution Service of Canada.

Anyone with information that may assist either investigation is encouraged to contact the Burns Lake RCMP at 250-692-7171.
