The 15th annual Chip Run will be racing through the Bulkley Valley on July 25.
The event sees motorcyclists do a poker run between Smithers and Kitwanga to raise funds for the Smithers Cancer Care Team.
It has raised almost $250,000 in the past 14 years, with last year’s event seeing $32,000.
“Last year, I think we had 105 participants in the actual ride and potentially more than that showed up for the end of evening festivities,” Co-Organizer Daryl Carroll.
The chip run was named as it follows the Hostess and Frito Lay delivery route driven by the event founder’s brother prior to passing away from cancer.
A new addition this year is a raffle for a Harley Davidson motorcycle to celebrate this year being the 15th run.
“There raffling off 1,000 tickets for $20 each and so far the sales seem to be going quite well,” said Carroll.
Proceeds from the event in previous years have gone towards new furniture in the cancer care facility, transportation help for treatment and family, and more.
The poker run starts at Northwest Truck Rentals with stops in New Hazelton and Kitwanga before returning to Smithers.
The final hand is drawn at the Smithers Fair Grounds followed by a dinner and games.
More information can be found in the event’s Facebook group.
