Dieleman Representing BV at Parapan

A Bulkley Valley athlete will be representing Canada next week at the Parapan American games in Toronto.

Jonathan Dieleman is a paraplegic swimmer competing in 4 swimming events: the 50m breaststroke, 50m backstroke, 50m freestyle, and 150m Individual Medley.

He said that he takes a lot of pride in not only wearing Canadian colours but also in calling small town BC home.

“it’s so much fun talking to people and having people ask me where I’m from and asking them if they’ve ever heard of Smithers,” he says, “and it’s amazing actually how many people have.”

Dieleman will be competing next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
