Grizzly threat averted on Hudson Bay Mountain

Conservation officers were able to calm down an angry grizzly bear on Hudson Bay Mountain last week.

The bear was angrily defending a buried moose cache in the down hill ski area.

Deputy Chief with the BC Conservation Office Chris Doyle says they avoided a public safety incident.

“COs were able to scare the bear off with some considerable effort off of the food cache, and were able to move the moose carcass farther away from the cabins.”

Doyle says they didn’t have to tranquilize or injure the bear in the process.
