Houston launches surveys around municipal services

Three surveys are underway by the District of Houston asking residents about community priorities.

The Priority-Based Budgeting and Community Priorities Survey was launched to help the district adapt to the financial impacts of the Canfor mill closure.

“While these challenges require difficult decisions, we believe those decisions should not be made in isolation,” said Mayor and Council.

The district added the surveys ask about various municipal services, including roads, water systems, fire protection, parks and recreation, and economic development.

“Our goal is not simply to address today’s financial challenges,” said Council.

“Our goal is to build a financially sustainable District of Houston for future generations.”

When the surveys close, responses will be presented to council and used in the district’s long-term financial planning and priority-based budgeting process.

Council added the survey is not a vote, or replace its responsibility to make financial decisions.

Links to the three online surveys can be found on the district’s website.
