Pinchbeck steps back as Houston’s CAO

Houston Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Gerald Pinchbeck is leaving the post for the second time.

He first held the post from 2018 to 2021, before returning in July last year.

“I didn’t imagine I would get a chance to come back. But all it really took was a phone call to ask how a bulk water station that I helped facilitate was doing for the District,” Pinchbeck said in a release.

He added it was during that phone call, he learned the former CAO was stepping down with a staff member making a joke about Pinchbeck returning.

“I am privileged to have had a second chance to serve Houston again as its CAO. But now it is time to turn the page once more,” said Pinchbeck.

He said his goal was to provide stability for this council’s term, knowing it was not a permanent solution as his family lived elsewhere.

Pinchbeck added the district is in a better place than before, despite the uncertainty around the Houston sawmill.

His full letter can be found here.
