Northern Health has issued measles exposure notices for four locations in Smithers from July 19th.
They include:
- Aspen Riverhouse Restaurant (5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.)
- McDonalds (9:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.)
- 7-Eleven (all day)
- Roi Theatre (6:30 p.m. to closing)
The health authority asks anyone who may have been exposed to monitor for measles symptoms – fever, runny nose, and red eyes may be a patient’s early symptom before the red, itchy rash appears on their face and neck.
According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control, 107 measles cases have been reported in northern B.C. with 91 confirmed as of yesterday (Monday) morning.
It adds immunization is the best way to prevent measles and is very effective.
