Schnai Dai a success to close Hudson Bay Mountain’s regular season

Hudson Bay Mountain wrapped up its regular ski and snowboard season over the weekend with Schnai Dai.

This year was the first time in 10 years the mountain opened two weeks early with a small slowdown in January.

“Hard to believe we are mid April and its Schnai Dai weekend, but here we are and looking back at everything, I’d say it was definitely one for the books,” said General Manager Lex Rei-Jones.

The mountain has announced a bonus weekend will run April 18 and 19, with potential for April 25 and 26 to also run depending on snow conditions.

Along with projects, maintenance, and upkeep, several events are planned to run through the summer.

“We are going to be open for Canada Day this year with Ride the Sky. Open July 4 and 5; Canadian Archery is doing a bow shoot on the mountain, and that’s going to be it for July,” Rei-Jones said.

She added this year’s team was positive with some members coming in from other parts of the world.

Schnai Dai this year saw a “Frozen Fame” theme with skiers and snowboarders dressing up like pop and rock stars.

Also run was the annual Slush Cup with various participants.
