Smithers RCMP warn of Revenue Canada fraudsters

Smithers RCMP are warning the public to be vigilant of another Revenue Canada fraud.

A number of citizens have received phone calls or emails from sources identifying themselves as Revenue Canada affiliates.

The callers offer tax refunds for the 2015 year, or demand immediate payment of overdue taxes.

Police say theses are scams and are reminding people not to give out personal or banking information.

The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre also advises not to open unsolicited emails.
