The Town of Smithers is applying for funding to help purchase various pieces of new equipment for Bulkley Emergency Support Services (ESS).
Town council approved an application for $150,000 from the Union of B.C. Municipalities’ Community Emergency Preparedness Fund.
“This is our second attempt at almost the same grant application as last year,” said Matt Herzog, Director of Emergency Support Services.
Herzog said some of the items added to this year’s ask include cultural activity equipment and volunteer retention especially in Houston.
Also on the list is pet care training, regional pet services response kit, mobile reception centre operations equipment, and level one response kits.
