BC’s Job Vacancy Rate among the highest in Canada

BC’s job vacancy rate is the highest in Canada at 3.6% during the third quarter of 2016 according to Stats Canada.

The province had the second largest jump in the number of vacancies at 5,700 or 8.1%.

Economist, Dominique Dionne-Simard says BC still fared better then some of its counterparts.

“In Alberta it was down 28.8%, Nova Scotia declined 24.2% and Prince Edward Island was down 27.1% with only Quebec and Ontario showing the only other increases than BC at 12.3 and 7.8% respectively.”

Full-time job vacancies in BC rose by 7,400 compared to the third quarter of 2015, while part-time openings dipped by 1,700.

The average offered wage in the province is $18.80.
