RDBN waiting on agreement of two communities ahead of ratifying Hwy 16 transit bylaw

The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako will be looking to ratify a para-transit agreement and bylaw next month taking another step in bringing the Highway 16 Action Plan to life.

Chair of the district’s board Bill Miller says the province announcing funding for a coordinator position was critical.

“The importance of that coordinator position is to bring everyone together to make sure this thing becomes operational,” says Miller.

The regional district will be the license holder for the position. Miller also says the whole action plan looks more solid with Prince George now committing to five years of funding. .

Miller says the board is waiting on Burns Lake and Vanderhoof to vote on an agreement and bylaw before the district ratifies it at February’s meeting.

He says with five year provincial operational funding in place, it looks like a go.
