New MRI machine delivered to Terrace this week

A new MRI machine is expected to go into service this summer at the Mills Memorial Hospital in Terrace after being delivered this week.

The machine is expected to provide up to 2,000 scans in its first year.

Communications Officer with Northern Health Eryn Collins says it will save people in the Bulkley Valley from travelling to PG for the service.

“We expect that it will significantly improve options and access for closer to home services and significantly improve wait times as well,” says Collins.

Northern Health is planning to triple the number of MRI machines in the north. They installed a new machine in PG this month and are set to install one in Fort St John this summer.

The cost of the machine at Mills Memorial comes in at $2.87 million.
