Work Experience for Refugees in Smithers

Treasurer of the program Malcolm Coupe says it can be difficult for refugees trying to work in a different part of the world.

Coupe says refugees benefit the community by working the jobs they can.

“The bottom line is there are open jobs that are needed to be filled to increase the prosperity of our community. If anything they’re adding to the community both at a cultural level and an economic level.”

A welcoming picnic and bbq will be held at Tyhee Lake in late June for refugees that are new to the community.
