Smithers Honour House Fundraiser

It was a successful lunch hour yesterday in Smithers raising awareness for PTSD as well as money for the Honour House, according to Fire Chief Keith Stecko. He says they raised around $3,000 during the BBQ.

“We’re lucky to be in a community where people care at that level. Honour House is a place where people in uniform have a place to go,” explains Stecko.

Honour House accommodates war vets, police, firefighters or anyone in a uniform that have suffered injuries much like PTSD – something the Honour House is spreading awareness about on their tour of the province of over 38 communities.

“Quite often they’re out serving the community and trying to do their best around issues of public safety – and what can we do to help them out when they’re the ones that need help?”
