The province will be handing out $1.5 million in funding through the Strategic Community Investment Fund in the Nechako Lakes region.
MLA John Rustad says the Strategic Community Investment Fund returns traffic fine revenue sharing and community grants back to the communities.
“Each of the communities that receive these grants can use it for programming or services that they would like to offer or they can use it for other types of priorities that they determine is important for the people there.”
Burns Lake will receive $309,218, Houston will receive $297,680 and the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako will get $122,431. Money will also go to Vanderhoof, Fraser Lake and Fort St.James.
