An evacuation order and alert continues for areas of the Bulkley – Nechako District.
Those affected by the order include people from Aitken Road south to Equity Mine Road East to Decker Maxan Road north to North Road across Highway 16, including Montgomery Road.
Evacuees are to leave the area immediately and register at the reception centre at the College of New Caledonia.
The evacuation alert stretches to a much larger area, from the district of Houston’ s boundary all the way to Bellicini
Rd and McKilligan Rd. east along the Highway 16 corridor to the intersection with Montgomery Rd. including all roads
connected to Highway 16.
It also includes east of the North Rd. Forest Service Rd. and the Decker Maxan Rd. along Highway 16 including all roads connected to Highway 16 to the municipal boundary of the Village of Burns Lake at Nash Road 17-40 including Murphy Road and Miller Road.
The regional district says those under evacuation alert must be prepared to leave with little notice, including those with disabilites and live stock.
The fire has closed Highway 16 to traffic in both directions from 4 kilometres east of Topley to 18 kilometres west of Burns Lake.
An alternate route is available through Colleymount/Morice gravel roads except to oversize traffic.
Traffic crews will be in the area.
Drive BC says the estimated time of re-opening is in the next 24 to 48 hours.
