The deadline to submit art for the Smithers Art Gallery’s 6 by 6 auction is fast approaching.
Beginner to expert artists are invited to create a piece of art that will be auctioned off later in October.
Volunteer Shannon Goodhead says the submission guidelines are simple, the canvas must be 6 inches by 6 inches, inspired by a song title and the artist must only sign the back.
“The auction is anonymous so it adds to the fun to the bidder who is trying to guess who the artists is,” she says. “That way the artist’s identity will only be revealed after the auction has ended. So if you have some of our more famous artists come in and do a panel, you aren’t just trying to buy those.”
All the money raised goes to art gallery. Art must be in by October 15th and it will be on display from October 21-24. The auction will be held on the 24th.
