Smithers drivers not yet enjoying low prices at the pump

Gas prices across the province have dipped to a 5 year low, expect in smaller communities like Smithers.
Gas is as low as $1.18 in Prince George and $1.07 in the lower mainland but in the Bulkley Valley it is still above $1.35 at most stations.
Senior petroleum analyst with Gas Buddy Dan McTeague says the less demand, the longer it takes to reflect the new market prices.
“On every litre of gasoline, probably because there isn’t a lot of demand, the prices you pay today have to reflect the former gasoline prices at the wholesale levels you saw a couple of weeks ago,” he says. “Eventually they will come down, they have to come down but in the meantime prices remain stubbornly high in Smithers.”
McTeague says gas prices are low now nationally because there is less demand and more supply.
