It’s international world polio day.
Rotary is recognizing the day by giving over 44 million dollars in grants to help fight the disabling viral disease.
Jim Butler president of the local club in Smithers says they are also contributing.
“In Smithers, what we’ve done, we contribute funds on an annual basis, from the club and from personal members. We hosted an open house earlier this week at the Old Church,” he says.
Butler isn’t sure yet how much they raised at their open house.
Members of the club will get together tonight to join rotary’s live stream event to get an update on the fight to end polio.
