The end of Main Street at Ranger Park in Smithers will see some significant construction this summer.
Council has approved an over $242,000 water main looping project that will extend from the top of the hill to Victoria Drive.
Mayor Taylor Bachrach says it’s a much-needed improvement.
“It’s a huge opportunity. It’s going to be a little bit disruptive for the folks living at the end of Main Street. But at the end of it, we’re going to have some smooth asphalt and a better water system,” says Bachrach.
The provincial and federal governments will pay for 83 per cent of the project through a grant.
The repaving of the road will come in at over $235,000.
