Cullen calling on PM to address 'Buy America' policy on Canadian land
The MP for Skeena Bulkley Valley is appalled that a new ferry terminal to be built in Prince Rupert will use American products and workers.
Alaska is leasing the space from the port authority and says contruction on their new terminal will be under ‘Buy America’ provisions.
Nathan Cullen says work done on Canadian soil or water should go to Canadians.
“The government is claiming to be offended by it but their offense isn’t registering in Washington,” he says. “I don’t know what other projects are going on in the country that have similar restrictions on Canada’s ability to create work.”
Cullen says the relationship with our neighbour to the south, and our biggest trading partner, needs to be reset.
