The Town of Smithers is asking residents to report street light outages.
Roger Smith Director of Works and Operations says they’d like to replace as soon as they go out.
“It is all about public safety, for pedestrians and to help reduce vandalism,” he says. “All the eyes out there is good, usually they are noticed when it is dark and our crews aren’t working so it makes sense for the public to call us.”
Smith says people can call the town to report the outage.
He adds if the light is owned by BC Hydro, he’ll make sure to pass the word on to them about it.
