Buy-Low Foods hopes Houston store will open by December

Houston will soon have a grocery store once more, just in time for the holiday season, after SuperValu closed its doors in May of last year.

While there’s still no official date, Buy-Low Foods is set to open as late as the beginning of December, months after announcing they’ll make the district a place of business.

Retail Vice-President Sam Corea explains the services being offered at the store.

“It’s a full supermarket that consists of groceries, meat, produce, bakery, deli, friendly service, and good quality.”

He adds it’s very humbling to hear the effects SuperValu left on local residents in not having access to basic groceries.

“It was so nice to hear from people that reached out to encourage us to come. We feel very good about what we’re doing, and we feel that we’ll be able to give the community a great place to shop for for their grocery needs.”

Buy-low Foods in Houston will employ nearly 50 people, and Corea says to expect opening sale prices on most items.
