Smithers council meets tonight with a lot to discuss

Smithers town council meets tonight with a packed agenda.
The discussion of whether or not large industrial trucks can be parked in residential areas continues. At the last meeting, a group of 12th avenue residents complained about their neighbour’s logging truck but councillors felt they needed more information from staff before making any decisions. A report on noise and parking by-laws will be presented.
Also on the agenda, council will weigh the pros and cons of adopting the Healthier Choices in Vending Machines in BC Public Buildings Policy.
There will also be two delegations, one regarding an update on the Coastal Gaslink Project and the other from the BV Search and Rescue.
Deputy Mayor Gladys Atrill will be chairing the meeting as Mayor Taylor Bachrach won’t be in attendance.
It starts at 7:30 pm in council chambers.
