Burns Lake, Houston Dust Advisory

For the third day in a row, Burns Lake and Houston continue to be under a dust advisory for their areas.

The Ministry of Environment in coordination with Northern Health issued the release due to a high recorded level of air contaminants (dust) in both regions.

The regulatory limit for air contaminants is 50 micrograms per cubic meter over 24 hours.

Burns Lake last recorded a level of 55.6, while Houston recorded 66.

While levels have subsided, residents of Burns Lake and Houston are asked to reduce outdoor activity in high traffic areas if at all possible until there is some sort of dust suppression in the regions.

Extra caution should be taken for children, elderly, and those with chronic health issues.
