Man on bear hunting trip shot and killed

A man from Washington state in Northern B.C. on a bear hunting trip has been shot and killed.

RCMP Cpl. Dave Tyreman says on Monday the man was hunting in the Tahtsa Reach Forest Service area south of Houston when he was shot.

“Upon arriving the members found a deceased 59-year-old male who had been shot. The individual is an American citizen who was bear hunting in the area.”

According to Tyreman the man was hunting with guides but RCMP haven’t released any details on how the shooting occurred.

Tyreman says RCMP, the Major Crimes Unit, the North District Forensic Identification Unit, B.C. Conservation and the coroners service are investigating the incident.
