Residents of Tofino are singing Smithers’ praises.
This comes after Smithers mayor Taylor Bachrach challenged Tofino’s mayor to a voter turnout contest during the fall election.
He says more voters ticked a box in Smithers meaning Tofino lost the bet, forcing them to write a song about Smithers.
“They are such good sports, and I’m really glad that they followed through on their promise. They obviously put a lot of energy into it,” he says. “I know people in Smithers really appreciate it and they got a few jabs in there.”
Although neither town saw an increase in voters, Smithers had the smaller drop.
