NH kicking off National Immunization Awareness Week

Northern Health is reminding the Bulkley Valley to be safe rather than sorry this spring.
It’s National Immunization Awareness Week and NH wants everyone to stay up-to-date on diseases and how to fight them.
Media Affairs Lead Jonathon Dyck says that vaccines are definitely one way to stay healthy.
“We do know that immunization can protect against 15 infectious diseases including whooping cough, polio, and meningococcal disease. It’s something people should consider as a regular health check,” he says.
Most children under 2 are protected against 15 vaccine-preventable diseases.
Over 275 cases of whooping cough have been reported in northern B.C. since January 2014.
Anyone with questions or concerns about immunization are advised to talk to their doctor or to Northern Health. You can also learn more at www.northernhealth.ca www.immunizeBC.ca and IBoostImmunity.ca
