SSS, BVCS Golf headed to Provincials

Bulkley Valley Christian and Smithers Secondary golf teams are headed south to represent Northern BV at the Provincial Golf Championships weekend.

BVCS will be competing in the “A” category.

SSS will be playing in “AA,” is a team mainly comprised of 11 students, many of whom were a part of the team that placed third in the province last year.

While they’ll be short a man, bringing only 4 players instead of the allowed 5, they’re feeling confident after a come-from-behind win at Zones to qualify for Provincials.

Coach Dana Gorbahn says this was the little bit of confidence they needed moving forward.

“We’ve played well as individuals in the other events throughout the high school season, but this was a good event for us to be able to say to ourselves that we’re good enough to be able [to] perform and hopefully place fairly well at provincials,” he says.

SSS will head to Predator Ridge Resort in Vernon tomorrow for the “AA” Championship. BCVS will be playing in the “A” Championships at the Black Mountain Golf Club in Kelowna.

Both register on Monday and tee off on Tuesday.
