RCMP, Northern Health see ATV accidents spike

Northern Health and North District RCMP are reminding the public to play safe after seeing an increase in ATV accidents.

They stated those most likely to be injured are youth and men between 15 and 29. The two most common causes of injuries are under the influence and not wearing a helmet.

North District RCMP Sergeant Al Steinhauser recalls a recent incident where a rider drove off a cliff.

“No matter what the cause it, it’s a death. Somebody loved him and he’s not coming home,” he says.

Northern Health recommends wearing proper gear, riding sober, and taking an ATV training course to keep yourself safe.
