BVDH Maternity Ward getting $266,000 facelift

The District Hospital will be “modernizing” the maternity ward to the tune of $266,000.

Hospital officials announced earlier Thursday that the updating will include more birthing beds, family resting beds, bath tubs, and privacy throughout the hospital wing.

BV Health Care and Hospital Foundation Chair Ted Bobb says project funding only started in March, and many of the donations were from community members.

“The generosity of this community is so phenomenal. I can’t emphasize how much people got behind this project,” he says, “I think it speaks volumes to this community, why many of us live here and why many of us chose to stay here.”

The bulk of the donations came from the Celebrity Golf Tournament, with many other contributions from local residents, businesses, and Northern Health.

Construction is expected to start in December.
